The Pioneers were home Wednesday evening to take on Imlay City in the final match of the regular season. On the line for the Pioneers was the BWAC League championship title. Imlay City was hoping to play the role of spoiler. The Spartans drew first blood by taking the 1st baker game 203-182. Seniors Robert Smith and Logan Miller led the effort for the Pioneers. In the 2nd baker game Cros-Lex took control early and cruised to a 238-173 win. This was also enough pin count give the baker series to the Pioneers. The seniors Robert Smith, Nick Youtsos and Logan Miller again carried the load for Cros-Lex. Moving into the 1st set of head to head games the Pioneers held a 6-4 advantage and were looking to create some separation. They did exactly that by taking 4 out of 5 games and manufactured a 210 pin series lead. Senior Logan Miller led the way with an outstanding 244 game. Senior Robert Smith rolled a very solid 224. Senior Nick Youtsos pitched a 190 and sophomore Jody Higgins added a 192 game. This proved to be enough to secure the 12th win of the season for Pioneers and give them the BWAC title not just for the 2019-2020 season but for the 4th consecutive season. What an incredible accomplishment. I couldn’t be more proud of each and everyone of the boy’s for the way the represented the School, their family’s and themselves. I am very grateful that we were able to send the Seniors out on such winning fashion. We will enjoy this for a short time and then begin preparation for the state tournament where hopefully we can make a whole bunch of noise! Go Pioneers!!!
