The Pioneers were on the road Monday to take on the Raiders in Almont and came away with a big road win to move their record to 7 – 2 on the season. Cros-Lex took an early lead by winning both baker games. 1st baker was a very close game 181 to 179. Senior Robert Smith and Junior Skyler Hyvonen lead the way for the Pioneers in the 1st baker game. The 2nd baker was 159 to 138. This time Senior Nick Youtsos carried the play for the Pioneers by striking in both of his frames. The lane conditions early on were challenging for both squads which made scoring difficult at times.. The Raiders bounced back in the 1st set of head to head games by taking 3 out of 5 games.Seniors Robert Smith and Logan Miller managed to come away with points for the Pioneers. In the 2nd set of head to head games, Cros -Lex took 3 out of 5 games and enough points to secure the win. Again it was Senior leadership that set the tone for the Pioneers. Senior Logan Miller was high scorer with a 200 game. Senior Nick Youtsos added a 196 game, and Senior Robert Smith pitched in a 181 game. Sophomore Kenny Allan had a key contribution with a 183 game. It was great to see the boy’s fight thru the tough conditions and adversity. This was a good hard fought win for us . These types of experiences will hopefully prove valuable as we into the late part of the season.
